I did a lighting project at the beginning of last semester that had to deal with the broad topic of light. Without being given very many parameters, we delved right into starting with some foundational research. From there we produced the design idea, which tackled the WHEN? WHERE? and WHY? I’ve included early sketches, mood boards, models and the final. This follows the creative process model that I made in the previous entry.
This project was born from the simple idea of manipulating light to suit the needs, moods, and tasks at hand, allowing the user to transform the purpose and physical shape of the light. Made with living joints, the light can be positioned with various magnets in the lamp to keep its form. It can also be staged as a wall lamp or table lamp.
